Background: We are looking for someone with proven experience in project management, critical thinking, and analytical skills, and experience in using technology for development. Experience with diaspora and migrant communities would be highly valued. This position will have a one-year duration, with the potential of extension.

Germin is a non-governmental organization whose core principles and ideals are based on the belief that the Albanian diaspora must play an extensive and proactive role in the positive development of all countries in the Balkans where Albanians live. The vision of GERMIN is to lead social innovation that empowers communities abroad and at home to co-create the future of our homeland countries. GERMIN is envisioned as a Diaspora Hub, where entrepreneurs, innovators, donors, philanthropists and connectors find their place and ways to work together.

Tasks and Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator will be working directly in the following activities throughout his/her tenure at Germin:

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties for the flawless execution of the project Municipal Action for Reintegration and Diaspora (MARDI), the diaspora engagement in particular.
  • Ensure the proper engagement of the diaspora communities in all components of the project.
  • Coordinate with the donor, partners and other stakeholders during the project period to monitor and manage the progress of project implementation;
  • Work with the project accountant to monitor project funds, ensuring the funds are used for the proper purposes, proper activities, and efficiency and transparency;
  • Develop a detailed project plan to track progress;
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs;
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques;
  • Report and escalate to management as needed;
  • Manage the relationship with all stakeholders;
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks;
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties;
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation;

Qualifications and experience sought: 

  • University degree in social sciences, or an area that is related to our organizational work, preferably economics and/or management;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in Albanian and English is required; the German language would be an asset;
  • Work experience as a project manager for at least three (3) years.
  • Good spirited and teamwork skills.

MARDI project (Municipal Action for Reintegration and Diaspora) seeks to address the challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic for repatriated persons. The project aims to enhance coordination amongst multiple stakeholders to address the underlying and longer-term needs of people returning and integrating. At the same time, and under the lens of diaspora, the MARDI project aims to make use of the untapped potential of the diaspora to see back-migration as something positive, that can be combined with investment and economic development in increasingly attractive communities in Kosovo. The project is implemented by the Caritas Switzerland – Kosovo Office, and GERMIN is an implementing partner for the engagement of diaspora.
