GERMIN remains dedicated to fostering collaboration between Kosovo and its diaspora, aiming to advance the development and democratization of Kosovo and the connection of the Albanian Diaspora with their country of origin.
Following several projects, from December 2022, GERMIN is implementing the “Cooperation between Kosovo and Diaspora: Capacity Building of Women in Politics at the Local Level” supported by the National Endowment of Democracy (NED).
The project aims to empower women in politics at the local level. To achieve this, 52 women involved in politics from Shtime, Istog, Vushtrri, Suharekë, Lipjan, Rahovec, and Podujevë, are part of the project.
The main component of this project is the mentorship provided by diaspora professionals, with 26 mentors from the diaspora working closely with the women participating in the project.
The project is structured in three distinct phases to maximize the engagement of the diaspora mentors and ensure that the women participating receive the maximum benefit from the mentorship.
In the project’s first phase, we identified the women who would benefit from the project. We have also identified the diaspora mentors who will be the primary supporters of these women throughout the project.
The second phase is the mentoring phase, which is also the main component core of the project. 26 mentor-mentee pairs have already been formed, with 26 mentors each guiding two women through the mentorship program, which will span a duration of nine months.
The project will be concluded with a conference that will bring together all project stakeholders, including its beneficiaries, diaspora mentors, and representatives from political subjects at both the central and local levels.
