Position: Project Assistant (Full-time)

Application Deadline: August 4, 2022, by midnight 

Preferable starting Date: immediately 

Location: GERMIN office in Prishtina, Kosovo

Background: 

GERMIN looking for someone with proven experience in project assistance, critical thinking skills, and experience in using technology for development. Experience with diaspora and migrant communities would be highly valued. This position will have a 7 months duration, with the potential of extension for two more years. 

Germin is a non-governmental organization whose core principles and ideals are based on the belief that the Albanian diaspora must play an extensive and proactive role in the positive development of all countries in the Balkans where Albanians live. The vision of GERMIN is to lead social innovation that empowers communities abroad and at home to co-create the future of our homeland countries. GERMIN is envisioned as a Diaspora Hub, where entrepreneurs, innovators, donors, philanthropists and connectors find their place and ways to work together.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager in the overall project implementation and progress 
  • Assist in engaging the diaspora community in all project components
  • Manage communication & relationship with project stakeholders 
  • Perform organizational tasks in planning, delivering, and monitoring project activities
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of all activities and draft reports on project implementation progress
  • Organize meetings and prepare follow-ups 
  • Monitor budget and help ensure resources are used efficiently 
  • Assist in collecting and analyzing data
  • Prepare necessary information for marketing purposes for the project 
  • Complete any necessary administrative tasks

Required qualifications & skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, or an area related to GERMIN`s work
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a similar role and industry
  • English language proficiency
  • Able to work independently with little supervision
  • Collaborative working style and team-player attitude
  • Able to thrive in a high-volume, deadline-driven work environment
  • Great communication & writing skills 
  • Great organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Keen attention to detail and an aptitude for problem-solving

The project assistant shall be involved in the “Municipal Action for Reintegration and Diaspora”- MARDI project.  The project seeks to address the challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic for repatriated persons. The project aims to enhance coordination amongst multiple stakeholders to address the underlying and longer-term needs of people returning and integrating. At the same time, and under the lens of the diaspora, the MARDI project aims to make use of the untapped potential of the diaspora to see back-migration as something positive that can be combined with investment and economic development in increasingly attractive communities in Kosovo. The project is implemented by the Caritas Switzerland – Kosovo Office, and GERMIN is an implementing partner for the engagement of diaspora.
