WHO WE ARE

GERMIN uses technology and virtual channels to connect and engage the diaspora in advancing the development and democratization of their home countries. It started in 2011 as an informal group trying to find a way to connect with the homeland, and it was formally founded in 2014. GERMIN is run and supported by a group of diaspora professionals ranging from public policy, finance, information, technology, law, education, security, and diplomacy. It has a wide network of professionals and part-time collaborators residing in 24 countries, including the Balkans, Western Europe, and North America.

The use of personal data on our platforms and database, WE” “US” “OUR”, is regulated in full compliance with the Law on Personal Data Protection 06 / L-082 in Kosovo, and the GDPR.

We believe that you have the right to control the use of your personal information and that your privacy must be respected. We restrict other parties’ access to and processing of your data. We will not use personal information in a way that does not match the purpose you have given it to us.

Our application does not have tools for comments or applications similar to discussion platforms, so we currently do not allow comments.

COOKIES

We use Cookies to improve the user experience and functional features of our online application. The cookies we use expire within one (1) month and are only for monitoring our internet traffic. These Cookies represent only aggregate download numbers of each document, page, etc.

When you visit our website, we use a cookie to manage your sessions. If you submit a form, a cookie session may be set to allow you to confirm a re-submission. The content management system on our site leaves a cookie for the administration of your session but is not used for tracking purposes.

SUBSCRIPTIONS AND ACCOUNTS

For the use of our tools and services, we currently do not require you to become a member, create an account or to be registered. We do not have and do not offer subscription tools on this site.

HOW WE PROTECT YOUR DATA

Our website protects all users’ data and all reports’ privacy. We as an organization within our webpage will not use your personal information for distribution to other parties besides the contracted company which is contracted by the organization.

In case of any reported violation of human rights by any user of our platform/web, will be treated professionally without putting in any risk the source’s personal information.
Our services and content, which can be downloaded and accessible to Internet users, are provided and managed ONLY by GERMIN. YOU expressly agree that your use of diasporaprofessionals.germin.org and its services is your sole responsibility. Given the fact of the sensitivity of digital data, YOU agree and are aware of the manner of use and the damages that may occur or be caused as a result of the digital data flow either from downloading applications or through used devices such as browsers or computer operating systems.

Our teams will make maximum efforts to prevent any data breach, misuse, or other harmful components in the application, in any service, servers, or emails sent.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, this site acknowledges compliance with the highest ethical and professional standards in the organization in protecting and preserving data through its network.

In accordance with the GDPR and in situations of data breaches we have the duty to report the case to the relevant supervisory authority, in order to protect your personal data. Where feasible, we’ll do this within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach. We will also keep a record of any personal data breaches, regardless of whether we are required to notify.

We restrict access and processing of your data to other parties. We do not share personal data with third parties. We will not use personal information in a way that does not match the purpose you have given us.

HOW LONG WE RETAIN YOUR DATA

Data collected through forms applicable to this website such as name; surname, e-mail, phone, textual contents, and uploaded files, remain only for our mutual communication. We try to collect as little personal data as possible. The contents of senders via e-mail or web application, on our servers are stored only for as long as necessary, as the EDP program tends to last and the platform will serve as a network.

WHAT RIGHTS YOU HAVE OVER YOUR DATA

If you have submitted a report, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
